Heat and Energy Recovery Ventilators (HRVs & ERVs) in Northern Colorado
At Origin Plumbing Heating Cooling Electrical, we understand the importance of maintaining a healthy and comfortable home environment in Northern Colorado. Fresh air is essential for good health, but keeping your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer can be a challenge. That’s where Heat and Energy Recovery Ventilators (HRVs & ERVs) can help!
What is an HRV/ERV?
An HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilator) or ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator) is a ventilation system that continuously brings fresh air into your home while removing stale air. The key difference between HRVs and ERVs is their ability to manage moisture:
- HRV: Transfers heat, but not moisture, from outgoing exhaust air to incoming fresh air. This is ideal for cold climates where maintaining indoor humidity levels in the winter is important.
- ERV: Transfers both heat and moisture. This is a good choice for climates with both hot and cold seasons, or where humidity control is a particular concern.
